Dynafit Beast Freeride Binding
The internet is a buzz with news of the new Dynafit Beast freeride binding. Just as Dynafit has been reaching toward the broader freeride market with their beefier boots and skis, the new Dynafit Beast AT Binding is an obvious move to pick up big mountain and more mainstream skiers looking for more than the standard Dynafit binding.
Here's a few specs and images of the binder, but to get the full scoop, see what Lou Dawson from Wildsnow has to say in the vid clip below:
Specs: 935g each (1870g pair); 2 lb 1 oz each (4 lb 2 oz pair)
Cost: $1000
Availablity: Fall 2013

Going for the big guns market. Looks cool, but I can't see switching from Vertical or Radical models for standard touring use. It's pushing the weight of a Marker Tour.

In reference to ChrisF's question on the ease of release. It's never easy to release a boot when simply mounted to a small test plate.

I love it. The alpine companies are shooting for the backcountry market and the backcountry companies are aiming for the alpine market. It drives innovation.

Like TDavis, it's not the binding for me, but I'm interested in seeing it up close. Interesting concept, the turning front plate and the new engineering on the heel unit. It did not look all that easy to release in the video? Who uses DIN 16?
